It’s Time To Set Goals!

For any successful professional it’s important to start the new year off right with specific, realistic goals for the coming 12 months.  Determine what you want to accomplish and where you want to be both in your professional life and personal life and proceed as follows.

Make two 3 x 5 cards (or larger).  Keep one card with you at work where you see it on a daily basis.  Put the other at home in clear view where you can see it and read it when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed at night and another in your vehicle where you can view it while stuck in traffic, in between appointments and when just out and about.

At the very top of the card put the phrase “This is what I will do because I know I will succeed” DO NOT use any other phrase.

On the rest of the card list your top three goals for 2015.  Each goal must be clearly defined by an exact definition of what you wish to accomplish and a definite date in time by which you will reach your goal.

Ex:  “It is December 2015 and I’m in the best physical and mental shape of my life.  I achieved this by working out 5 times a week and reading at least one business related book a month.”

Ex:  “It is December 2015 and I consistently averaged 6 face to face appointments per week for 2015.  I have met 312 prospects over the course of 2015 resulting in 3.5 million dollars in revenue!”

Ex:  “It is December 2015 and I consistently achieved all the weekly number / goals listed on my daily planner.  As a result, my average monthly sales for 2015 exceeds $308,000!”
REMEMBER!!  These goals must be realistic…if you are only averaging 182K a month in sales…it may not be best to now make your goal 308K.  It is best to set a goal that you will hit and definitely exceed…then expand it in the future…take small steps not leaps.
Review your goals when you get up in the morning, before you go to bed at night and throughout the work day when you’re going through a challenging time and you’ll be amazed at how powerful this simple process is when the end of the year approaches…As a matter of fact,  if you follow this simple process and it does not work….call me in 2016 and I will apologize (410-992-7776) and try to help you reestablish new, attainable goals.
